WICHITA, KS. February 10, 2022 – KWCH/KSCW and the Kansas Livestock Foundation raised $1.9 million to support Kansas farmers and ranchers affected by December’s “Four County Fire.” More than 2,000 donors contributed the Kansas Livestock Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. Donors ranged from large corporations to individuals from across Kansas.

“KWCH/KSCW is proud to help rally support for the farmers, ranchers and agriculture producers in western Kansas who are trying to repair and rebuild their lives after the ‘Four County Fire,’” KWCH/KSCW Vice President & General Manager Brad Moses said. “It’s been a very emotional time for many and with the good partners at the Kansas Livestock Foundation, we worked to make a positive difference.”

Throughout January Kansans could donate online, at Emprise Bank, or mail checks directly to KLF. To promote the relief effort, KWCH and KSCW featured stories of farmers and ranchers impacted by the wildfires and donated commercial time to the KLF’s relief fund. These efforts culminated with a day dedicated to the relief effort.

On January 24th, Eyewitness News Anchor Michael Schwanke, Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen, and Eye on Agriculture host Brityne Rucker spent the day in Russell County. Starting at 6:00 a.m. on Eyewitness News this Morning, the KWCH/KSCW crews did live reports with the farmers and ranchers who suffered loss from the “Four County Fire.” Live coverage continued throughout the day in newscasts on KWCH and KSCW.

KLF is currently reviewing all relief grant applications and 100% of the money raised will go to farmers and ranchers affected by the “Four County Fire.”
