23 WIFR to Broadcast High School Basketball Games This Winter

ROCKFORD, IL — 23 WIFR announces Stateline Slam Game Night, a live web stream of the Stateline’s premiere high school basketball matchups each weekend during the 2014 season.

Streaming exclusively on WIFR.com, Stateline Slam Game Night will offer a live video stream of up to 13 games throughout the season. The team of Andy Gannon and David Perrone will announce each game and air exclusive interviews throughout the season. Stateline Slam Game Night is 23 WIFR’s second high school sports online broadcast program. 23 WIFR debuted Football Frenzy Game Night this past football season and averaged more than 5,000 weekly viewers on WIFR.com.

“Following the major success with our Football Frenzy Game Night broadcasts, we know how important high school sports are to the community. Expanding our local coverage with Stateline Slam Game Night is something we are very excited about,” said 23 WIFR General Manager Tim Myers.

Stateline Slam Game Night will showcase some of the top talent throughout Northern Illinois leading up to the IHSA Playoffs. The debut of Stateline Slam Game Night will feature the Hononegah Indians vs Harlem Huskies on December 5th.

“The broadcast team we have put together for our Stateline Slam Game Night broadcasts has decades of experience with local high school basketball scene. Their knowledge of the game is going to create a brand new dimension to these broadcasts that will benefit our viewers,” Myers said.

Each game will be chosen by 23 News Sports Director Scott Grodsky, with announcements of the selection taking place the Monday before the game on 23 News at 5, 6 and 10.
