KWTX Media to Air Inaugural “Baylor GameDay” Broadcast Sunday
Category: Station News
WACO, TX (August 26, 2014) -- As Baylor University prepares to take on Southern Methodist University Sunday in their first game at McLane Stadium, KWTX Media will help fans get ready for the matchup with the premier episode of “Baylor GameDay”, which will air locally at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31st on KWTX News 10, as well as across a 5-State area on Fox Sports Southwest.
“Baylor GameDay” is an hour-long live telecast which will be broadcast prior to each home football game from Touchdown Alley at Baylor’s McLane Stadium. The show will feature exclusive interviews, analysis, and special features from Baylor and the KWTX team. Each show will also feature surprise guests.
“There is only one first time. It was important that KWTX renew its partnership with Baylor University during this historic chapter in its history. Waco and Baylor, and in fact, all of Central Texas, have one time to get this right,” said Mike Wright, KWTX Media Vice-President/General Manager.
“Part of our calling is to do all we can to advance the message of all this region offers. With the stadium finally moving to campus, capitalizing on the advantage the Brazos River brings and the resurgent downtown area, the positive message is stronger than ever, and KWTX has for almost 60 years been part of the history of this area,” said Wright.
“Baylor GameDay” will be hosted by KWTX personalities Dan Ingham, Sean Giggy, and Brian Kaufman with special live reports from Julie Hays and Jeremy Stein. Former Baylor and St. Louis Rams running back Terrance Ganaway will also join the show this season as a special commentator.
“This is an incredible opportunity to cover Baylor Football with KWTX at McLane Stadium,” said Ganaway. “I am honored to be a part of Baylor GameDay alongside great hosts throughout the inaugural season for the 2013 Big 12 Champions.”
KWTX is hoping for a live audience of spirited fans, decked out in their green and gold. Fans are welcomed to bring appropriate signs to hold in the background. A limited number of free “Bear Buttons” will also be available for pickup at Touchdown Alley.
“GameDay will have a high-tech locally constructed set, four anchors, two reporters, and multiple-shot capability,” said Wright. “Our goal is to have the best locally-produced Pre-game show in the country. I’m confident we will get there.” The first installment of “Baylor GameDay” will air Sunday, August 31st at 5:00 p.m. on KWTX-TV and Fox Sports Southwest. It will also be streamed live online at KWTX.com.
