WILX News 10 Announces Launch of Mid-Michigan’s Only 4 P.M. Newscast News 10 First @ 4 to Debut Next Week

(Lansing, MI) – WILX Media announced today that for the market’s first-ever 4 P.M. newscast. News 10 First @ 4 debuts Monday, July 7th.

It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s News 10 First @ 4. Starting Monday July 7th Mid-Michigan viewers will get their Breaking News, Weather, and a whole lot more for the first time weekdays at 4pm. The newscasts will be anchored by Emmy-Award winning journalists Ann Emmerich and Kirk Montgomery. Ann and Kirk are both native Michiganders who bring years of journalism excellence and broadcast experience to the set.

News 10 First @ 4 will be a fast-paced “Happening Right Now” newscast. The program is designed to inform viewers of what they need to know, right now, and give them a First Look at the evening’s top stories. “Viewers don’t want us to waste their time,” said WILX’s News Director, Kevin Ragan. “They want to know what’s going on right this moment and what in-depth coverage they can expect throughout the evening.”

With the addition of News 10 First @ 4, News 10 will now produce more than 38 hours of LIVE news every week on WILX and partner stations. “Consumers are demanding more news, in more time periods and on more platforms than ever before”, said Michael J. King, WILX’s Vice President/General Manager. WILX News 10 produces far more television news than any other media outlet.

Ann Emmerich a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and Journalism, started her career in Northern Michigan and worked her way to the Lansing DMA. Along the way Ann received several coveted industry awards for her in-depth investigative reporting and anchoring. Ann’s work has been recognized by the Associated Press, and The Michigan Association of Broadcasters. Ann has served on various Boards including the Board of Highfields, Inc. and the Board of Governors for the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Kirk, no stranger to television and Mid-Michigan brings a unique blend of news reporting and entertainment expertise to each broadcast. After attending Oakland Community College and Specs Howard School of Media Arts, Kirk started his career as a production assistant at WILX-TV. Kirk’s career then took him to California, Florida, and Denver Colorado, (DMA market size 17) where he anchored for more than a decade.

Now returning home to his roots Kirk is excited to work again at WILX-TV. Along the way Kirk pick-up several distinguished industry awards and Emmys. Packed with personality and witty commentary Kirk Montgomery’s vast knowledge and experience compliments this team.

With the addition of News 10 First @ 4 WILX continues its commitment to serve the community with more news and weather than any other station.
