WCSC LIVE 5 NEWS IS MOST AWARDED NEWS STATION IN THE CAROLINAS
CHARLESTON, SC – WCSC Live 5 News, the Gray-owned CBS affiliate in Charleston, South Carolina, was honored with two 1st place awards from the Associated Press and seven 1st place awards and three 2nd place awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas, making WCSC the most recognized news station for all market sizes in South Carolina and North Carolina.
Live 5 anchors, reporters and producers have received the following awards:
- Most Outstanding News Operation in South Carolina (1st place, AP)
- Best Daytime Newscast (1st place, AP)
- Best investigative story - Charleston County School District child pornography case by Carter Coyle (1st place, RTDNAC)
- Best News Website - Live5News.com by Patrick Phillips, Ray Rivera and Nick Krueger (1st place, RTDNAC)
- Best Sports Special - Road to Victory – by Kevin Bilodeau, Thomas Gruel, Abbey O’Brien, Chris Obarski, and Rob Way (1st place, RTDNAC)
- TV News Producer of the Year - Becca King (1st place, RTDNAC)

- TV News Photographer of the Year - Craig Lloyd (2nd place, RTDNAC)

The AP/RTDNAC awards luncheon was held on Saturday, October 26th at Charlotte Motor Speedway to recognize the best of television, radio and website work from July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019. Live 5 also received the most nominations out of any television station in the Carolinas, with 11 awards from 12 nominations.
