WAGM Red Cross Years of Service Award
On March 30, WAGM was presented with the Years of Service Award, for our loyal dedicated and unwavering commitment we have given to our local Red Cross Chapter. Mary Green the Aroostook County Community Manager presented Kelly Landeen, VP/General Manager and Kelly O’Mara the News Director the award along with the following sentiment.
“This is Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross recognizes the nation’s Everyday Heroes who give of themselves in some way to help their community.
We are proud to honor those who help all of us here at the American Red Cross in Aroostook County by giving their time to help their neighbors in need. We want to thank our heroes during Red Cross Month-our extraordinary volunteers and partners who work tirelessly in service of others; and our generous financial supporters who help us carry out our vital mission of helping people at their darkest hours.
March was first proclaimed as Red Cross Month in 1943 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, as a way to raise awareness of the organization and its humanitarian mission in the midst of war. Since then, every president, including President Tramp, has designated March as Red Cross Awareness Month. The American Red Cross is synonymous with helping people, and has been doing so for more than 130 years.
Because of the generosity of WAGM-TV, the Red Cross has been able to help raise awareness and better serve the community. We cannot measure the amount of time and money that your organization has given to us year after year, and I will always be eternally grateful for your unwavering support.
So, on behalf of the American Red Cross, I am pleased to award WAGM-TV with the “Years of Service Award” for your commitment and dedication, not only to Aroostook County, but especially to the American Red Cross. Thank you for being an outstanding partner and friend to our organization, and to me.”
