(TOLEDO) – September 12, 2017 – WTVG-TV 13abc in Toledo, Ohio helped to raise more than $120,709 during two phone banks to benefit Red Cross hurricane disaster relief efforts. The funds raised will help the Red Cross provide relief efforts to victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The station’s second phone bank held September 11 took place in “Studio B” at the station with 15 volunteers from the Red Cross and a media partnership with the Toledo Blade. “In times like these, everyone needs to come together to help out,” said Kurt Franck, interim general manager and executive editor of The Blade. “The Blade is honored to join 13abc and the Red Cross to raise funds with the help of the people in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.” The Hurricane Irma 13-hour donation drive was considered a huge success by Rachel Hepner-Zawodny, executive director for the Northwest Ohio chapter of the American Red Cross.

A similar phone bank for Hurricane Harvey disaster relief took place at 13abc on August 30.
