KXII-TV News 12 anchors recognized as best in Oklahoma, Arkansas

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - KXII-TV News 12 was recognized at this past weekend’s 2016 Arkansas-Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters Awards for excellence in both news and sports.

News 12 anchors Maureen Kane and Dan Thomas took home first place for Best Anchor Team, and sports anchor David Reed and the Sports 12 Team won second place for Best Sportscast.

Television stations from all markets in Oklahoma and Arkansas submitted entries in these categories.

“This recognition is deserving for these outstanding journalists. They are true professionals and represent everything we’re all about at KXII,” station news director Matt Griffin said.

Reed also took home second place for Best Sports Anchor (Division IV) in the 2016 Texas AP Broadcaster Awards. KXII-TV also won the following 2016 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Awards for small market stations.
-Spot Coverage, First Place (Grayson County tornado coverage)
-Morning Newscast, First Place (News 12 AM)
-Daytime Newscast, Second Place (News 12 at Noon)
-Weathercast, Second Place (Chief Meteorologist Steve LaNore)

Kane, Thomas, and Reed can all be seen every weeknight on News 12 at 5, 6, & 10 on KXII-TV News 12.
