WIBW TV won 8 gold awards in the 2016 Kansas City Press Club Kansas/Missouri competition.

13 News won a first place Newscast award for team coverage of the August, 2016 Kansas Primary. The Judges said, “Everybody involved in this newscast – those behind the scenes and on-camera – should be very proud of very smooth, informative primary night coverage.”

The station also took gold for the regular weekly “Salute the Badge,” and “To Your Health” franchise reports.

13 News added top honors in photojournalism, feature, documentary public service and breaking news.

The Breaking News story was coverage of a violent Topeka motel shootout that saw two officers wounded and the suspect killed after he set fire to the motel.

13 News also received six Silver and five Bronze awards.
