WHSV Sports reporter Andrew Clay wins Emmy

Category: Station News

It was a big night on Saturday, June 24 for Virginia Gray station WHSV as sports reporter Andrew Clay won a prestigious Emmy at the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter award ceremony in Bethesda, Maryland. Clay’s "WHSV Sports Presents..." entry showcased his feature stories titled “Broadway Salutes”, “Defining Family” and the “Stanley Boys”.

Clay also won a Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) award the night before in Virginia Beach for the same work.

“Andrew's win is a huge professional accomplishment,” said Jay Webb, WHSV’s news director. “It also speaks volumes to the high quality work that goes on in our newsroom every day,” concluded Webb.

This is the second Emmy WHSV has won. A year ago, anchor/reporter Morgan Donnelly won the station's first Emmy award.
