Gray Television, Inc. Privacy Policy and Your California Privacy Rights - Additional Information
Personal Information:Generally, Personal Information is information that can be used to identify or contact a specific individual, such as your name, postal address, email address, mobile telephone number, or data that can be reasonably linked to a specific consumer, computer or other device.
Non-Personal Information:
Non-Personal Information is traditionally data that may not directly identify or enable contact of a specific individual, such as an Internet Protocol (“IP”) address or mobile device unique identifier, particularly if that data is de-identified (meaning it becomes anonymous). Aggregated information is also classified as Non-Personal Information because an individual person cannot be identified. However, Non-Personal Information linked to or associated with Personal Information will also be classified as Personal Information.
Specific types of Personal Information we may collect and use:
Depending on your relationship with us and the Services you use as well as the feature, activity or transaction you are engaged in, we may collect your full name, postal address, email address, telephone number (wireline or mobile), text/tweet IDs, Facebook or another social networking user ID, facsimile number, date of birth, gender, occupation, household income, purchasing preferences, personal interest activities, employment history, bio, precise and/or general geographic location, photos, video or audio clips (or a likeness or avatar), and Web Channel user name/password, search, transaction and purchase history if such information is linked to or associated with other Personal Information, or any other Personal Information that you provide to us. We also collect and use more sensitive information such as Social Security Number, driver’s license number, and/or passport number to verify your identity, eligibility, and/or for IRS reporting requirements. If you log into certain features, activities or Apps using Facebook or another social networking platform User ID, we will only collect Personal Information that you have authorized Facebook or another social networking platform to share with us and any information that is deemed public. Under certain circumstances and to the extent required by applicable law, an IP address and a mobile device unique identifier may also be classified as Personal Information.
Description of Cookies, Web Beacons and IP Address:
A "cookie" is a small text file that recognizes repeat visitors, facilitates ongoing access and personalization to some of our features and activities and other websites, and will allow us to understand how and when pages are visited and by how many people. Cookies can do a variety of helpful things:
• Store a variety of information, including IP addresses, navigational data, server information, data transfer times, user preferences, shopping cart information, user IDs and passwords needed to access our Services.
• Help us make improvements and updates based on which areas are popular and which are not.
• Serve customized advertising or content to you based on your geographic location, age, gender, or other demographics that you have provided to us.
• Ensure the accuracy of our voting, polling and survey data.
You may configure your browser to warn you each time a cookie is being sent. If you do not want to allow our cookies on your computer, you must configure your browser to turn off all cookies used by GTI, our system does not allow you to opt-out to them individually. Your browser may also have a tool that will identify and disable certain types of cookies, such as those used for Network Advertising.
A “web beacon” (also called a web bug, pixel tag or a clear GIF) is a small transparent graphic image that is placed on a webpage or in an email and is used to monitor the activity of the user visiting the webpage or email. Web beacons are used for website traffic reporting, auditing and reporting user clicks on an ad, and tracking the number of unique visitors to a webpage or ad. Web beacons and cookies may also be used in combination to customize your experience on this Web Channel by monitoring your activity and interests.
An “Internet Protocol (“IP”)” address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. This number by itself does not identify your name, e-mail address or other Personal Information. If you request pages from any GTI Web Channel, that Web Channel's server will enter your IP address into a log. To maintain user anonymity, GTI does not associate or link IP addresses with records containing Personal Information unless it is necessary to enforce the law or our TOU, protect GTI or our Stations, Operational Service Providers or Advertisers, or to defend against or investigate any charges or claims against GTI or our Stations. We store IP addresses for a period of time to help us to identify anyone who refuses to comply with our Terms of Service, applicable law, and to identify users who threaten our Service, Web Channel, Advertisers, users or others. We also will use this information to measure Web Channel traffic for purposes of system administration and for our Advertisers to measure the success of their ads. This aggregate data also helps us to understand how you use our Web Channel and will help us improve your online experience.

Examples of advertising featured on our Services and how they deliver personalized and customized advertising:
• Contextual Advertising: We may serve you an advertisement for brakes and shocks based on a used car dealer ad you just viewed or a search you’ve made about used cars on one of our Web Channels; this type of relevant advertising based on particular content or search query is called “Contextual Advertising” because it is based on the context of how you used our Web Channel. We do not collect any other information about you for Contextual Advertising.
• First Party Advertising: Advertising that is tailored or personalized based on a history of your use of content and participation in features and activities on our Services (possibly combined with information from our Facebook Fan page or our other social network platforms) over time is based solely on a combination of information that we collect from you – not from your use of other websites or third parties. We may share such information anonymously with our Advertisers in order to measure the effectiveness of ads on our Service, such as how many users opened or acted on a particular ad.
• Network Advertising: Information about your use of our Services combined with similar information about your overall Internet usage across different third party websites or online services used to serve tailored and personalized advertising is generally called “Network Advertising.” Multiple third party websites and online services are involved in this tailored or personalized advertising process, in essence a “network” of advertising providers. Such information about you could include information about your browser, computer, and/or mobile device and general information about your demographics (whether you have provided such information voluntarily or such information is estimated based on your usage history and interests), such as your gender, age, lifestyle, education, home ownership, geographic location, etc. See below for more information about how to identify a Network Advertising ad.
For advertising that is part of a Network Advertising service, you should see a small symbol (also called an icon) attached to a banner ad or other targeted advertising on certain Services that can be clicked open for information about why and how you are receiving a particular ad. This icon is part of the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising and members of the Alliance will provide information about their ad practices. For more information see www.aboutads.info.
We expect our Operational Service Providers, their agents and service providers and any Advertiser that collects and uses your Internet usage information for the delivery of Network Advertising to comply with the DAA’s Self-Regulatory Program and provide you with a clear and prominent notice and explanation how your Personal Information and/or Non-Personal Information are used to deliver tailored and personalized advertising. We also expect such entities to abide by the industry’s Self-Regulatory Principles for Multi-Site Data that limits the collection and restricts the use of Personal Information for determining eligibility for employment, credit, health care and insurance. Click here for more information .
Our Advertisers and third party Network Advertising services, such as Google, will also place cookies, web beacons and/or other similar technology on your computer to personalize your experience and advertising content on certain Services.
For example, Google will use monitoring technology to collect anonymous identifiers (classified as non-Personal Information) about your visits to and activities on this Web Channel and other websites within the ad serving network in order to provide advertisements and promotions about goods and services of interest to you. Please click here for Google’s “Privacy Policy” for more information and learn about your opt-out choices.
